Learning at Work Week (12 – 16 May) is designed to shine a light on creating a culture of learning in the workplace. Free learning resources and training on using technology to create impact is at the heart of the CAST approach. The organisation gives socially driven organisations free access to the best of digital and design. Skills that are crucial if charities, trusted sources of advice and expertise, are to maintain their impact and meet their mission.
Teaching health & social charities which Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to trust
For ten years CAST has been empowering people in charities and social enterprises to use digital, data and design to achieve their charitable objectives. Now, more than ever, the pace of change is hard for charities to keep up with. A key challenge for charities is determining where to start when it comes to AI. To help, CAST has created a library of free AI resources, designed to support organisations as they navigate the many challenges and opportunities associated with AI. This includes a link to CAST’s free self-serve AI course, designed to help participants begin experimenting safely – and enjoyably – with AI.
Dan Sutch, CEO of CAST said,
“We urgently need charities to be able to harness the potential of AI within their work, but also ensure they can meet their community’s changing needs and digital behaviour.”
£20K from players of The Health Lottery to train 50 charities to use AI safely and effectively
£20,000 has been given to CAST to fund learning resources to help build understanding about AI, through peer learning sessions and small group mentoring. The Health Lottery Foundation wanted to fund this work because it has the potential to impact huge numbers of people. We are supporting 50 individual charities to learn more about AI, but in turn each of them will put what they’ve learnt to use, impacting their beneficiaries too.
Dan said,
“For the past year we’ve worked with hundreds of charities to explore the impact of AI on their missions, communities and operations. AI is the defining social and strategic opportunity of our time. It has the potential to create significant breakthroughs in how we address health and social care challenges. It also massively shifts how people find trusted information, advice and support. It’s crucial that charities have the skills to meet the technological advances that are all around them.”
